Damn That Marketing!

Comcast has gotten my attention with their Slowsky turtles. My favorite is where the husband and wife are trying to get their bags off the carousel and the wife says, "Maybe next time." The husband says, "Yeah, let it do a victory lap," and then the camera pans out so you see both of them craning their necks, following the bag. I think it's hysterical. I like turtles, especially talking turtles.

But before that commercial, there was an ad on for some energy drink, and there's a silhouette of a woman drinking this concoction. But she doesn't drink it the way a woman normally drinks a glass of water or a Sunny D. She drinks it like she's in porn - head tilted back, chest stuck out, tummy in. Has anybody else noticed this?

I hate commercials. No wonder my grandpa muted the TV during them. I do it too (well, except for those Comcastic commercials). Feel the burn.

R.I.P., Roy

I woke up this morning to find out that Roy Scheider, who had many roles but who I knew as the tanned police chief in Jaws, passed away.

I don't remember the first time I saw Jaws, but now, whenever it's on the tube, I'm hooked. I love that movie. Boats, water, a hot man and his equally attractive wife (I admit, I had a crush on dear ol' Roy), and a wayward shark...what's not to love? Whenever there was a TV show on that discussed the making of Jaws, I watched. I don't really remember Jaws 2 or 3 - I think they were as sequels were back then most of the time - bad - but the first one was a classic. I followed Roy from time to time, through his other movies and TV shows, like Seaquest. I was happy he was finding work (so many don't, you know). And my crush waned, especially when I thought he really was a bit too tan and resembled George Hamilton.

Rest in peace, dear Roy. Watching Jaws just won't be the same, knowing you're gone.

Starting to Think I'm Gullible

But it took awhile to answer these questions; I couldn't just NOT put it up. And really, some of these things I think are true.

You Are An INFJ

The Protector

You live your life with integrity, originality, vision, and creativity. (Creativity, yes...vision, hmmm.)
Independent and stubborn, you rarely stray from your vision - no matter what it is. (If I can figure that out, then perhaps this would be a yes.)
You are an excellent listener, with almost infinite patience. (I agree.)
You have complex, deep feelings, and you take great care to express them. (But I'd like to know whose feelings aren't complex and deep.)

In love, you truly see relationships as an opportunity to connect and grow. (Absotutely, fo' sho'.)
You enjoy relationships as long as they are improving and changing. You can't stand stagnation. (Wiley, take note.)

At work, you stay motivated and happy... as long as you are working toward a dream you support. (Amen.)
You would make a great photographer, alternative medicine guru, or teacher. (Hello - photographer! And I've been a teacher!)

How you see yourself: Hardworking, ethical, and helpful (True dat.)

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Manipulative, weak, and unstable (That's kinda gross.)

This is Uncanny

I just started playing and thought I'd see what gemstone I was.

Your Gemstone is Aquamarine

Intuitive, tranquil, and trusting.
You inspire others to have faith in themselves.

Uncanny because that's my birth month gemstone. Kick az.

My Birthday is Less than 2 Months Away

I have to admit, I'm more of a follower than a leader in the blogosphere. Spyder had this on her blog, and I wanted to see mine and then share. I'll let you know where to send gifts.

Your Birthdate: March 15

You take life as it is, and you find happiness in a variety of things. (Mostly true.)
You tend to be close to family and friends. But it's hard to get into your inner circle. (Very true.)
Making the little things wonderful is important to you, and you probably have an inviting home. (Kinda true.)
You seek harmony with others, but occasionally you have a very stubborn streak. (VERY true.)

Your strength: Your intense optimism (really?)

Your weakness: You shy away from exploring your talents (I can agree to this)

Your power color: Jade

Your power symbol: Flower (funny, since I refused to wear patterns of flowers growing up)

Your power month: June (oops)

What a Role Model!

Apparently the little sister of Britney Spears wants to be more in the spotlight, too. The star of Zoey 101, a Nickelodeon show, is pregnant. 12 weeks. By her 18-year old boyfriend.

And she's 16.

Look, kids are going to do what they're going to do, and hopefully they're counseled on at least knowing how to wrap the salami, but for crying out loud, if you are a child star and kids look up to you, perhaps getting knocked up at 16 isn't the best thing.

Then again, this is a Spears, and with her big sister as a role model, should we expect any better from this one?

Let me Lead You

I took this from Heather. I went to the site just to see what it was, and this was what I got:

Wiley just about sprayed his tea all over the room.

Then I did another test on the same site, this time to figure out which classic movie I was:

Other choices included Schindler's List, Apocalypse Now, Platoon, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Sunset Blvd., Wuthering Heights, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and The Godfather.

Wiley's surprised I wasn't the Godfather. Maybe next time.

Arrested Development?

I saw this on Heather's and Spyder's blogs, so I thought I'd see where I was at.

Wiley's not so sure this is a good thing.

If You're Having One of Those Days

A friend sent this to me a couple of years ago (this just shows you what a clutterbug I am with my inbox). Don't open if you don't have headphones you can plug into your computer.

Happy Halloween!!! If anybody wants to become my favorite person, please go to the nearest grocery store and pick up as much candy corn and those little candy pumpkins you can, and send them to me here in Sarajevo. I got nuttin', honey.
